If you have a large mailbox and need to reset up outlook, you can find that the initial sync of the mailbox can be very time consuming - even on a LAN.

The simplest answer to this is to use sync filters.

To set these up, right click on the inbox and choose properties.

Then go to the Synchronization tab and click on Filter.

Set the criteria that you wish to use to filter on.  A good one for mailboxes is to use the receieved date and filter to only sync those received after a certain date.

This will speed up the usage of outlook with large mailboxes.
